Mr. May speaks frequently at seminars to business people and fellow attorneys. Topics include various aspects related to mergers and acquisitions, preparing a business for sale, and protecting business owners’ personal assets. He has been a guest speaker on Chicago radio and was chosen by the Illinois State Bar Association to discuss the business buying process on the ISBA Law Talk television program.
Markus is a member of the Institute of Illinois Business Laws where he helps draft Illinois business laws and provides input into proposed business laws. He has actively served in numerous professional bar associations including the Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, DuPage County Bar Association, American Bar Association and Kane County Bar Association. Markus is on the board of XPX Chicago and a member of the Midwest Business Brokers and Intermediaries where he has received numerous Collaboration Awards and helps run the Illinois chapter and meetings committee, . He is an AV rated attorney with Martindale Hubbell, a Superb rated attorney with AVVO.com, and an Illinois Leading Lawyer.
Mr. May has authored numerous articles related to business law including buying and selling businesses, shareholder agreements, protecting business owners’ personal assets and drafting pre-acquisition agreements. He was a regular columnist for the Naperville Sun Law Talk newspaper column.
Mr. May received a Bachelors degree in Marketing and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Colorado where he served on the Law Review and was class president. Markus is married to his lovely wife Kelly and has two children and a crazy dog. He is passionate about helping people with their faith walk with God and enjoys playing board games, pickleball and riding the Peloton.
